    Aged 18+ with a good level of physical fitness.

IRATA Level 1 – Rope Access Technician

A Level 1 Rope Access Technician must attend a minimum of a 4-day training course and pass a 1-day practical and theoretical assessment, delivered by an independent IRATA assessor.

The level 1 course is the first step in a three level IRATA system.

Course content:

  • Awareness of hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Safe use and inspection of equipment
  • Knots and basic rigging techniques
  • Rope manoeuvres
  • Structural climbing techniques
  • Descent rescue techniques and lowering systems
  • Level one theory knowledge

IRATA Level 2 – Rope Access Technician

A Level 2 Rope Access Technicians must have logged a minimum of 1000 working hours over the minimum period of a year at Level 1, attended a minimum 4-day training course at level 2 and pass a 1-day practical and theoretical assessment, delivered by an independent IRATA assessor.

Course content:

  • Proficiency in all Level 1 theoretical and practical requirements
  • Additional knots and rigging techniques
  • Advanced rescue techniques
  • Rigging for rescue
  • Hauling and lowering techniques
  • Level 2 theory knowledge

IRATA Level 3 – Rope Access Technician

A Level 3 Rope Access Technician must have logged an additional minimum of 1000 working hours over the minimum period of a year at Level 2, attended a minimum 4-day training course and pass a 1-day practical and theoretical assessment, delivered by an independent IRATA assessor.

Course content:

  • Proficiency in all Level 1 and Level 2 theoretical and practical requirements
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Job planning and tool box talk
  • Current legislation and regulations
  • Equipment selection, inspection, care and maintenance
  • Advanced rigging techniques
  • Complex rescue techniques
